Does your Warframe crash so often that you can’t even finish a full battle? Or does it crash from the start so you can never launch it properly? If either of the answers is “yes,” then this post should get you out of trouble. Now read on and find out possible solutions for yourself.
3 Fixes for Warframe crashing
Here we’ve gathered up 3 simple fixes that have helped many other players solve their problems. You don’t have to try all of them; just work from the top down until you find the one that works.
Fix 1: Modify in-game settings
Fix 3: Check for software conflicts
Fix 1: Modify in-game settings
The first thing you should do is to check for faulty files in Warframe with its built-in tool. Once the tool find any corrupted or outdated files, it will replace them with the latest ones or repair them if possible. After verifying that all the game files are in perfect state, you should then modify in-game settings such as disabling anti-aliasing to assuage the processing stress on your hardware devices. Further down in the post you’ll be presented with more detailed steps to making these tweaks.
Verify and optimize cache files
1) Note that there’s a small gear icon at the top right corner of your Warframe launcher. Click it to open the Settings dialog. Then click Verify.
Wait till the process is completed.
2) Click Optimize. Likewise, wait for the process to be completed. By the way, you’re not suggested to tick the Full Screen option as shown below.
Modify in-game settings
1) Start your game. When you’re in a battle, press the Esc key on your keyboard to invoke the OPTIONS window in game. Go to the AUDIO tab first. As illustrated below, you can modify your audio settings by turning off all the unnecessary features such as Reverb.
2) Then go to the DISPLAY tab. On this tab there’re quite a few tweaks you can make. First, set Display Mode to Borderless Fullscreen (this is optional for you).
3) Under GRAPHICS QUALITY, go on to modify the settings as below.
4) Under Resolution Scale, change the settings to Low, Disabled or Off according to the following screenshot. Then, below TAA Sharpen, turn off Depth of Field and Motion Blur. You may also disable other features if necessary.
So this is it – what you should do to modify the in-game settings. Hopefully the steps above help resolve your crashing issue or at least mitigate it. In case the problem persists, please move on to the next fix.
Fix 2: Update device drivers
Always keep in mind to update your device drivers (such as video drivers, audio drivers, etc.) because an outdated or corrupt driver may result in the crashing issue of Warframe.
If you don’t have the time, patience, or computer skills to update the graphics card driver manually, you can do it automatically with Driver Easy.
Driver Easy will automatically recognize your system and find the correct drivers for it. You don’t need to know exactly what system your computer is running, you don’t need to risk downloading and installing the wrong driver, and you don’t need to worry about making a mistake when installing. Driver Easy takes care of everything.
You can update your drivers automatically with either the FREE or the Pro version of Driver Easy. But with the Pro version it takes just 2 clicks.
1) Download and install Driver Easy.
2) Run Driver Easy and click the Scan Now button. Driver Easy will then scan your computer and detect any problem drivers.
3) Click the Update button next to the flagged device to automatically download the correct version of the driver (you can do this with the FREE version). Then install the driver in your computer.
Or click Update All to automatically download and install the correct version of all the drivers that are missing or out of date on your system (this requires the Pro version – you’ll be prompted to upgrade when you click Update All).
Launch Warframe again and see whether it runs properly now. If it keeps crashing, please give the next fix a shot.
Fix 3: Check for software conflicts
Triggers for the Warframe crashing often turn out to be software conflicts in PC. With the incompatible programs running in the background, Warframe may be forced to close to desktop, or cannot be launched from the start. Whatever scenarios you’re in, please try to pinpoint the real culprit, namely the program that causes your game to crash. According to Digital Extremes, the known third-party software programs that are having compatibility issues with Warframe include:
- Baidu IME
- Raptr overlay
- Lucid VirtuWatt software
- Razer Synapse Program
- Razer Chroma SDK
- Rivatuner Statistics Server
- MSI Afterburner OSD
1) If you happen to be using one or more of these applications, shut them down while playing Warframe or simply uninstall them from your computer.
2) If you use none of the programs above, then perhaps you should perform a clean boot which allows you to start Windows without running non-Microsoft services. In this way you should be able to find out the root causes of your Warframe crashing issues. Microsoft Support provides more depth on how to do a clean boot at https://support.microsoft.com/en-us/help/929135/how-to-perform-a-clean-boot-in-windows.
3) Your trouble is sometimes caused by interference from antivirus software. To see if that’s the problem for you, temporarily disable your antivirus program and check if the Warframe crashing issue reoccurs. (Consult your antivirus documentation for instructions on disabling it.)
Also, remember to check carefully in the blacklists (or quarantine) of your third-party antivirus and Windows Firewall for any files related to Warframe. Once you spot them, manually add the files into whitelists.
If the game works properly after you disable the antivirus, contact the vendor of your antivirus software and ask them for advice, or install a different antivirus solution.
Now it’s time to launch Warframe and see whether it keeps crashing.
By now, have you managed to tackle the Warframe crashing issue? If any any chance none of the fixes above work out for you, you may send a ticket to Digital Extremes and seek help from them. Hopefully you’ll find this post useful. Thanks for reading!
