[SOLVED] Watch Dogs: Legion Keeps Crashing on PC

Watch Dogs: Legion is finally out. While the game is surely a big hit in the 2020 game market, many gamers start complaining about the constant crashes that keep them from hacking DedSec. But don’t worry if you happen to be one of them. Here we’ve put together some fixes that work for many players, try them and stop the crash right away.

You might not need to try them all. Simply work your way down until you find the one that gives you luck.

Fix 1: Make sure your PC specs meet the requirements

It’s a bit cliché, but checking your PC specs should always be your first step in troubleshooting. Watch Dogs: Legion is no doubt, a graphically demanding title, even more so when Ray Tracing and DLSS are on. So before you try anything complicated, make sure your rigs are powerful enough for the game.

Fix 2: Verify the integrity of game files

1. Open you UBISOFT CONNECT client.
2. Navigate to the Games tab and move your mouse cursor to the game tile of Watch Dogs: Legion. Then click the downward triangle on the lower-right corner of the game tile.
   
3. Select Verify files. Then wait for the checking to complete.

Fix 3: Install all Windows updates

Option 2: Update your graphics driver automatically (Recommended)

If you don’t have the time, patience or computer skills to update your graphics drivers manually, you can, instead, do it automatically with Driver Easy. Driver Easy will automatically recognize your system and find the correct drivers for your exact graphics card, and your Windows version, and it will download and install them correctly:

1.  Download and install Driver Easy.
2. Run Driver Easy and click the Scan Now button. Driver Easy will then scan your computer and detect any problem drivers.
   
3. Click Update All to automatically download and install the correct version of all the drivers that are missing or out of date on your system.
   (This requires the Pro version – you’ll be prompted to upgrade when you click Update All. If you don’t want to pay for the Pro version, you can still download and install all the drivers you need with the free version; you just have to download them one at a time, and manually install them, the normal Windows way.)
   

Once you’ve updated your graphics driver, restart your PC and check if Watch Dogs: Legion crashes again.

Fix 5: Run Watch Dogs: Legion on DirectX 11

Some Aiden Pearces reported that they managed to stop the crash by running Watch Dogs: Legion on DirectX 11. You can try the same as it might be the solution to your case too.

So here’s how:

1. Open you UBISOFT CONNECT client. Navigate to the Games tab and click Watch Dogs: Legion.
   
2. From the left menu, select Properties. Then scroll down to the bottom. Under the Game Launch arguments section, click Add command line arguments.
   
3. Type or paste -dx11 (don’t forget the dash), then click Save.
   

Now you can launch Watch Dogs: Legion and check if the crash stops.

Fix 6: Stop overclocking your hardware

As we all know that overclocking is basically a zero-cost performance booster, be advised that it could also trigger instability of your game or system.
